Cult Manipulation Techniques
Some victims complain about the stalkers' connection with cults and popular religions. I added this information to clarify how cults recruit another members. In some senario, you might be encounter friendly people midst of psychological warfare by the gang stalkers. Some people might seem to listen to you. It is true that the gang stalkers communicate with you to get information from you, or to give persuasion to control your life. This list shows how cults are recruiting new members. What happens is that the victims may be exploited by giving up their private property to the cult and become the target of brainwash to be used for the religious group. If the group is working for the gang stalking, the victim may end up a homeless after giving away everything he has. Once the group find the follower useless, it is up to the group to decide how to take care the newcomer. Exploitation always occur when gang stalkers target an individual in the society. Also, if you think a cult group or a religious organization is working for the organized stalking, please consider these information for their characteristics.
- Love Bombing: Everyone needs some sense of love in their life. We are not like robots. We react stimuli that bring up a change in our emotional state. Have you ever seen friendly strangers asking you to attend their religious meeting on the street? Many cult recruiters show their extreme friendliness to the passerby. They must be a good sales representatives to advertise their teachings. Once they get attention from you, what they do is to force you listen to their speech.
- i.e. Holding hands and hagging at the religious ritual. Shaking hands and lip service at the greeting. Over emphasized compliment and free gifts.
- Coercive Persuasion: The cult recruiters and people work on this technique often do it in groups. The target of persuasio is often forced to be alone in order to make the strategy work effectively. It might be held after the target of persuasion experienced some sorts of isolation and feeling of fatigue.
- i.e. Cult member couple invite you to their home, and you have hours of conversation about the topic that is of your interest. They might give you a meal, but make you tired for the long talking. Then, they would start to show you a leaflet about their cult and shift the topic to the teaching. They might encourage you to attend their meeting at least once for an experience. The point is, you have hard time to deny their suggestion.
- Hard to Leave: The problem of the cult is just like American universities. It is easy to get in, but hard to get out. (University can let you out with empty hand, though.) Because of the strong connection among followers, leaving of other member can provoke instability to the branch. The leavers' friends at the cult may try to stop leaving the cult. They often act irrationally as if leaving the cult would change the entire relationship with that person. People can contact with each other after they graduate from a school or move out from a cult. Because of the difficulty leaving the teaching behind, the members are always under the influence of the decision and teaching of the cult leaders. Remember, this technique cannot occur if you have not join or related with the cult. In other words, more you are connected to the cult, harder is it to move away.
- i.e. When you decided to leave the cult, you receive frequent phone calls and emails from the cult members. They try to make you listen to their complainant to stop you from leaving. Sometimes, kidnapping-like incidents happen to the leaver.
- Insider vs Outsider: The cult often have strong emotion toward other members. They might call other members “sisters” and “brothers” to show their affection. However, the same feeling will result in separation with the non-member. A cult would target a particular organization or an individual as their enemies. This feeling will strengthen the unity of the group members toward the mutual enemy.
- i.e. The members criticize the people who mock their beliefs.
- Sacrifice for the unity: Often the cult members have to contribute to the group. Donation and volunteering are some sacrifices for the group members to keep the cult in order. The masters would tell the group member that sacrifice is good - “No pain, no gain.” The members would think their struggle and sacrifice is necessary to keep their connection with others. There is no need to ask what the purpose of sacrifice would be. The members often focus on the result of how the cult will recognized their effort but the means.
- i.e. Donating their old cars for the church. Purchasing the latest books of the cult leader. Free work for the recruiting new members and call the leaving-members to stop them from exiting.
