Is National Security Much Important Than the Freedom of Citizens?

The establishment of the Homeland Security after the September 11th was to increase the national security and to prevent the further threats from the international terrorist group Al Querida. The Bush Administration made some policies to monitor American residents' activities, including what they are doing in their bedrooms. Some people, who are considered as sex-offenders, received a device to send information of what he or she is watching. (How many activists, including Catholic priests, are considered as sex criminals anyway?) FBI, CIA, and other intelligence agencies like the Chinese Secret Police already have chemical weapons that makes the target act strange. You might find the articles about this weapons in Internet because I have read about this chemical weapon in a course reader for one of my anthropology class.

Have you noticed the rumors about a notorious multi-nation level human tracking group, gang stalkers? They are the organization of "claimers." They correct you garbages to search for any evidence to claim you as criminals. If your coworker do not like you and if he has a connection with then, he may turn you to be the another target for them. How about the "reward system" from the Police? Your tax may be used for giving cash rewards for gang stalkers.

Many nations experienced the danger of the terrorists' next target. George Orwell explained similar circumstance in his book, 1984. In the book, three countries are continuously at war to each other. In our real world, some nations sent their troops to fight against terrorists' activities in the Middle-East and in Africa. In the book, citizens' activities are monitored by surveillance cameras. In reality, we know cameras are everywhere. In the book, people are encouraged to be isolated from each other, and it is forbidden to form a group. Also, the government backed up and manages the resistance group. In reality, many organizations cannot make decisions without considering their patrons because that is where the money comes from, and the workers' wages are depended on them. In the book, main characters' love ended as a betrayal during in the torturing chamber. The main character felt that everyone looked similar and could not remember his past marriage experience well. In reality, we are encouraged to like or love someone who acts and whose appearance is similar to what we see on the mass media. Mass media is selling images that people can follow. Cosmetic surgeries can turn the ugly duckling into a celebrity-like figure. How many times we hear love ends in betrayal of their partners? Breaking the relationship of a couple is one thing gang stalkers are good at.

In our reality, who are we arguing against for? We are encouraged to hate each other. Gang stalkers work to destroy all the healthy relationships just like the people in Orwell's book. Each of us has own sphere of networks. The benefit of destroying the activists' networks is to prevent the citizen-level peace movement which would bother the plans of the "Big Brothers."

For most of us, our main concern is security of our life. In reality, nothing - jobs, our health, relationships, gas prices, etc.- is secured. In 1984, citizens experience the shortages of certain materials on market. For instance, Mr. Smith, the main character, complains about the shortage of razor blades and shoe strings. What kinds of things we have shortages in our material-based society? We feel the shortages of what we cannot buy with our money - the security of our life. gang stalkers know how to make us insecure. When you do not agree to work for them, you might lose your job and a gang stalker takes your position. About health issues, many people do not have a health insurance and medication costs quite a lot. Divorces and cheating are so common to destroy an intimidate relationship. Without access to oil resources, our society corrupts. Many countries depend on generating electricity from the fossil fuel. In other words, our needs of oil is not only about our transportation but also about our life lines. It is hard to live without electricity. You probably cannot read this essay again in such circumstance, as you have no way to turn your computer on.

We are often told to mind our own business and sticking our nose into some one's problem is something that we are not encouraged to do so. But what happens if taking care of some one else's problem actually make benefits for ourselves? Insecurity of our life may decrease when we say "NO!" to fascist-like citizen-monitoring system. That is how people in the 60s protested the equality of African Americans. Washed by the water from the hoses the police officers holding, the protesters made African Americans' status and images close to other "colored" immigrants. What did the society receive in return? More work forces and purchasing power are some of the changes. Also, they got more voters for the democratic politics. Diversities in elections would make insecurity of jobs for particular people, though.

In conclusion, we have a right to chose what type of society we want to have. Currently, many Western nations are developing citizen-monitoring system. In reality, people are encouraged to claim minorities as criminals and sex-offenders. To prove their statements, the citizens are actually involve with crimes and act like prostitutes. If we stand up and say "No!" to this phenomenon, our neighbors might stop looking at your window looking for "cash rewards."
